I saw a similar question on a post from DPReview. It asked, why do photographers post on social media? I thought that was a good question. At this time this blog is the only place I\u2019ve been posting anything at least recently. I\u2019d hardly call it social media maybe anti-social media. There isn\u2019t some throng of people out there particularly interested in my random thoughts and random photos. I\u2019m not even all that sure of what I\u2019m doing. I\u2019m just doing it, doing something in the hopes that some kind of clarity of vision occurs to me at some point along the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s been my intention for a good while to create a small business doing portraits and such. It\u2019s not necessarily because portraits are my favorite niche in photography. I do like doing portraits, but my personality makes it difficult to find subjects that want that kind of thing. Also general laziness and procrastination are a constant force I reckon with. Time constraints also play a role. I do have a full time job and it\u2019s hard to get things done even if my hours are typically well under the generally accepted standard forty hour work week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I tend to excuse my procrastination to myself, as I am accountable only to myself and the people I owe money I like the independence from having to cater to the arbitrary whims of random strangers in order to keep my bills paid. . My job as a school bus driver keeps me pretty busy a lot of the time. I\u2019m not usually in a struggle to make end meet every month, but things can be tight and a little something extra would be very welcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am doing work I enjoy, bus driving, writing and posting here, working on and learning about my website development, and taking photos of things that spark my interest. Only one of those things is currently bringing in funds while the rest tend to deplete them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So back to the question of why I share work on here. On here being carterpix.com. The short answer is I enjoy it. I love photography. The act of photographing. Processing the results. Editing photographs in creative ways. Occasionally editing photographs artistically. These are the things that have made me happy since forever. Or as long as I can remember anyway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019ve been discovering that I enjoy writing. I\u2019m not great at it. I don\u2019t have a story I feel compelled to tell, at least I don\u2019t yet. I\u2019ve never really tried writing fiction. I don\u2019t think I have the attention span required. I did intentionally bad in school once I started puberty and unfortunately didn\u2019t learn all I should have. The tragedy of my youth is a whole other topic, even a book, but no one would want to read it, especially me. I have been working to improve my writing and the best way to do that is to write. Just like photography or anything else really. Doing is the best way to learn, and not just doing once but doing so in earnest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’m cutting this posting here with a cute little picture I made with Adobe Firefly AI. They are giving their clients a free taste to get them on the hook for more monthly subscriptions. I do have to admit that this is a pretty cool picture for just a two sentence description. AI is both exciting and scary to a humble human. How long before the AI don\u2019t need us anymore? That\u2019s a whole other discussion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
